UGLEGORSK, January 30. /ITAR-TASS/. Head of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) Oleg Ostapenko has arrived at Vostochny Cosmodrome to attend a ground system, a command and measurement complex, a residential area under construction and other facilities, the Amur Region government’s press service reported on Thursday.
Ostapenko will take part in a meeting on the pace of the construction of Vostochny Cosmodrome, the press service said.
On January 31, the Russian official is expected to meet industrialists of Amur Region and visit a construction-industrial exhibition. It involves construction, machine-building, energy and timber companies, which deal with transport and roads, small-size entrepreneurship companies, educational organizations and enterprises, the press service said.
Roscosmos head will also confer with Amur Region Governor Oleg Kozhemyako and rectors of the Far East higher education establishments.
Vostochny Cosmodrome is being built in the Amur region near the village of Uglegorsk since the middle of 2012.
According to Roscosmos’ plans, a new site should be launched in 2015. The first manned aircraft is planning to be launched in 2018.
