Russia bans pork imports from Lithuania due to African swine fever

MOSCOW, January 25, /ITAR-TASS/. Russia has banned pork import from Lithuania because of an outbreak of African swine fever in that Baltic country, Alexei Alexeyenko, an aide to the head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Control, said on Saturday, January 25.

He told ITAR-TASS that Belarus had earlier made a similar decision, and Russia had just followed suit as a member of the Customs Union created together with Belarus and Kazakhstan.
