MOSCOW, December 24, 21:20 /ITAR-TASS/. Egg prices in Russia have gone up by 29.1 percent since the beginning of the year, while retail prices of eggs amounted to 56.35 roubles per 10 eggs (USD 1 = RUB 32.95) as of December 16, 2013, the Russian Agriculture Ministry says in its report. However, the egg prices in the country went down by 0.4 percent over the preceding week.
In January-November 2013, all categories of Russia’s egg producers decreased their output by 1.9 percent as compared to the same period of 2012, the ministry said, adding that in the period under review, the country’s egg output amounted to 38 million eggs. Herewith, the agricultural organisations produced 29.5 million eggs in the eleven months of the year, which was 2.1 percent smaller than in January-November 2012, the ministry said.
According to the State Statistics Service, egg prices of agricultural producers amounted to 4,206,000 roubles per 1,000 eggs in November 2013 (month’s growth - 13.4 percent and 29.8 percent since the beginning of the year).
Proceeding from early reports, the Federal Antimonopoly Service took an interest in the situation with the hike in egg prices on the market. The service’s examination in two regions (the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Ivanovo region) made it possible to open a case on the violation of competition law.
