Debt of gas consumers in Russia’s North Caucasus makes 50 billion rubles

MOSCOW, December 18. /ITAR-TASS/. The overall debt of gas consumers in the North Caucasus Federal District reaches 50 billion roubles (about $1.5 billion) that make about half of total gas debt in Russia, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting of the governmental committee on socio-economic development in the North Caucasus Federal District in the Russian capital on Wednesday.

Medvedev recalled that the average level of provision with gas supplies in the federal district makes 90 percent. “This figure is much lower in other Russian regions despite a sweeping programme, which Gazprom is implementing to provide people with gas supplies, so, in this regard the current situation is very good there, but the overdue debt of gas consumers in the federal district makes about 50 billion roubles (about $1.5 billion),” the prime minister said. “This is about half of overall gas consumption debt in the country,” the prime minister added.
