BISHKEK, December 16. /ITAR-TASS/. Kyrgyzstan will join the Customs Union (Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan) only if “Bishkek’s demands are satisfied”, Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev told a news conference on Monday.
“We won’t join the Union on the ‘roadmap’, which was approved without our participation. I guarantee,” Atambayev said.
“We’ll follow the way that meets the interests of citizens of Kyrgyzstan,” the president said.
However, he said the republic “has few alternatives to the Customs Union”.
Earlier, Kyrgyz Vice-Premier Dzhoomart Otorbayev said the “roadmap” of the republic’s joining of the Customs Union had been approved by the Eurasian Commission in November without Kyrgyzstan’s participation.
Bishkek rejects this plan, he added.
