PRAGUE, September 20 (Itar-Tass) - A meeting of Russian State Secretary, Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin with Georgian Prime Minister’s special representative Zurab Abashidze that was held in Prague, was constructive.
“We, as is known, are trying to get practical solutions in the spheres where it is possible, in the absence of diplomatic relations,” Karasin said in an interview with Itar-Tass.
“We have confirmed the positive dynamics in the trade and transport spheres,” said the secretary of state. “Georgian wines, the Borjomi mineral water, have returned to the Russian market.”
“According to our data, about 30 percent of the total export of alcoholic beverages of Georgia is already supplied to Russia.” “The export of certain agricultural products also takes place,” he added.
“The Kazbegi - Upper Lars ground border checkpoint continues to operate around the clock,” said the RF deputy minister. “We discussed today the most appropriate mode of operation of this checkpoint during the winter period.”
Karasin confirmed that the conversation on this issue would be continued.
