The forum is designed to assist Russian and US companies which specialize in developing high technologies to get to know one another better and establish mutually beneficial partnership relations.

According to Rinat Dosmukhamedov, Russia's Trade Representative in the USA, the RIW in the US is "an opportunity for Russian and American companies to establish a real-time dialogue and find business partners". Russia, he said, is widely represented not only by research entities but also by the leadership of a number of regions at the interregional level.

The forum is being attended by Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Lev Kuznetsov, Governor of Krasnoyarsk Territory, Andrei Ivanov, Russian Deputy Minister of Finance, Anatoly Chubais, Chairman of the Board of ROSNANO Corporation, Igor Agamirzyan, General Director of the Russian Venture Company (RVC), and Viktor Vekselberg, president of the Skolkovo Foundation.

Participants in the forum are focusing on efforts to step up trade-and-investment contacts between Russia and the US in the fields of innovations, medicine, biotechnologies, and pharmaceutics.

In the opinion of US State Department's Special Representative for Business and Trade Lorraine Hariton, the advantage of the conference is that it enables executives of a wide range of Russian and American business entities, private organizations, as well as experts in the field of science to meet one another to deepen mutual trust. She said representatives of Russian organizations which are in the lead as regards innovations in the country have arrived in the US to discuss ways for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the sphere of advanced technologies. All this is having a highly positive effect on the socio-economic environment in the Russian Federation and the USA, the State Department official emphasized.
