Ukraine to develop mechanisms of cooperation with Customs Union

These issues will be discussed with Russian partners, according to Ukraine's Prime Minister

KIEV, August 28 (Itar-Tass) - Ukraine will develop mechanisms to interact with the Customs Union and with the Eurasian Economic Union within the context of a free trade zone with the EU, Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov said.

Speaking at a governmental session on Wednesday, Azarov said: “I’ve instructed the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the Ministry of Incomes and Fees and the Foreign Ministry to develop practical mechanisms to cooperate with the Customs Union and then with the Eurasian Economic Union.”

These issues will be discussed with Russian partners, the Prime Minister added.

Under any circumstances Ukraine seeks to increase the volume and quality of trade and economic relations with Russia. “Dynamical trade is our main achievement in recent years. We believe that our common task is to contribute to increasing trade volume between Ukraine and Russia, and between Ukraine and the Customs Union. This priority has been set during the recent meeting between presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Viktor Yanukovich,” the Ukrainian Prime Minister noted.
