Bank of Russia’s currency interventions set new record

Currency interventions reached 13.26 billion rubles

MOSCOW, August 16 (Itar-Tass) - Currency interventions by the Bank of Russia set a new record since the beginning of the year on Wednesday to reach 13.26 billion rubles (about $401 million  according to the August 14 official rate of exchange), as follows from a statement posted on the Bank of Russia web site.

The previous record-high - 13.21 billion rubles (slightly less than $400 million) - was registered on August 7.

On August 14 the Bank of Russia again moved the bi-currency basket corridor up five kopecks to 32.00-39.00 roubles.
