Iran, Russia to sign agreement on construction of new nuclear plant in Iran

TEHRAN, August 11 (Itar-Tass) - Iran and Russia will soon sign an agreement on the construction of a new nuclear plant in Iran, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi told a news conference on Sunday.

“An agreement will soon be signed between Tehran and Moscow on the construction of a new nuclear plant,” he said. “Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful, it serves the interests of satisfying the country’s demand in electricity, and also medical purposes.”

Earlier, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani pledged that the Iranian government would continues talks with neighbouring countries, including Russia, on the development of peaceful nuclear energy sector and the construction of new nuclear plants.
