Azerbaijan’s trade with Russia grows by over 34% in January-May

BAKU, July 22 (Itar-Tass) - Azerbaijan’s trade with Russia reached 1.167 billion U.S. dollars in January-May 2013, or was up by 38.4 percent as compared with the same period last year, Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee said on Monday, citing the country’s State Customs Committee.

Azerbaijan’s imports from Russia stood at 623.4 million U.S. dollars, while exports were estimated at 543.4 million U.S. dollars.

Azerbaijan’s overall foreign trade in January-May 2013 grew by 9.7 percent as compared with the same period last year to reach 14.725 billion U.S. dollars. Countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) account for 11.4 percent, or 1.675 billion U.S. dollars, of the overall foreign trade.

Azerbaijan’s main exports include mineral resources, foodstuffs and agricultural produce. Its imports are primarily made up of machines and mechanisms, electrical equipment, transport vehicles and chemical products.
