YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, July 16 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed to discuss the possibility of extending the program for the development of the Kuril Islands, which is scheduled until 2015.
“I know that there are proposals to extend this program, let’s discuss it,” he suggested at a meeting on the development of the Sakhalin Region.
Putin also urged the meeting participants to discuss the current results of this program. In addition, he demanded to keep the pace of its implementation. “Please ensure rhythmic execution of the plans,” the president said. “The schedule of the facilities’ putting into operation must be strictly met” he stressed. “Much has already been done, but there is yet time, and there is much work ahead,” Putin added.
