Kazakhstan to build logistics centre on border with China

This will allow to increase goods exchange and raise efficiency of the transport and transit potential

ASTANA, July 10 (Itar-Tass) - Kazakhstan plans to build a transport and logistics centre near the Kalzhat customs checkpoint on the border with China, the Kazakh Finance Ministry’s customs control committee said on Wednesday.

“The creation of a transport and logistics centre will help Kazakhstan integrate into the global logistics corridor Western China-Western Europe,” the committee said in a statement.

The construction of transport and logistics infrastructure on the border of the Central Asian republic will allow to increase goods exchange and raise efficiency of the transport and transit potential.

“Moreover, when Kazakhstan’s foreign trade grows and its export-import cargo traffic is on the rise, high demand for specialized terminals that can provide a wide range of logistics services, including customs cargo handling, emerges,” the statement read.

Experts believe that the construction of a transport and logistics centre will also ensure economic development of the region and will help create new jobs.
