Ukraine hopes to get prepayment from Gazprom for gas transit

In 2012, Gazprom gas giant granted Ukraine an advance of about two billion dollars for gas transit

KIEV, May 29 (Itar-Tass) - Kiev is looking into an opportunity to get prepayment from Gazprom for the transit of Russian gas via Ukraine, Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Eduard Stavitsky told reporters on Wednesday.

“We do have such plans. Specialists are calculating now. A group led by the chairman of Naftogaz Ukrainy (Yevgeny Bakulin) is in Moscow now. He returns later today and we will be able to comment on the situation tomorrow,” the minister noted.
