Medvedev to speak at Startup Village conference at Skolkovo

The conference is held from May 27 in the format of the best foreign start-up festivals

MOSCOW, May 28 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will speak on Tuesday at an international conference for start-ups and investors - Startup Village at Skolkovo, the press service of the Russian government reported.

The event, which is the most ambitious start-up conference in Russia, has been organised for the first time at Skolkovo Hypercube. In the future, it is planned to hold it annually.

The conference is held from May 27 in the format of the best foreign start-up festivals (such as TechCrunch in the United States, PioneersFestival in Austria, SLUSH in Finland). Among the Startup Village participants are more than 1.7 thousand start-up companies and teams from 65 regions of Russia and 26 countries of the West and CIS, 360 investors from 250 investment organisations, 20 partners (development institutions, major technology corporations, business communities, etc.), officials of government agencies, the media and student community.

The objectives of the conference include the implementation of the educational program for aspiring entrepreneurs, informing entrepreneurs about the existing tools of state and private support for innovative small enterprises and young researchers, the selection of and advisory services to the best regional teams for involving them in the pool of the Skolkovo participating companies, demonstration of the Skolkovo possibilities as the environment for the development and commercialisation of innovative technologies.
