Rosneft plans to sign confidentiality agreement with PDVSA

Rosneft is interested in working on the offshore fields in the Gulf of Paria

CARACAS, May 23 (Itar-Tass) - Rosneft on Thursday hopes to sign a confidentiality agreement with the Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA for getting access to geological information on offshore projects, President of the Russian state oil company Rosneft Igor Sechin told journalists.

According to Itar-Tass earlier reports, Rosneft is interested in working on the offshore fields in the Gulf of Paria with the potential gas production of 600 million cubic feet and 20 thousand barrels of condensate daily.

According to the head of Rosneft, after obtaining geological information on offshore projects the company will make a decision on the sections where it is ready to work.

At negotiations with Venezuelan Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez on Wednesday the sides discussed 12 sets of questions: ranging from specific projects, in particular, the Junin 6 block, where the company is already working, to perspective offshore projects, Sechin said. Taking part in the talks was head of Gazprom Neft Alexander Dyukov as member of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Consortium (Russian consortium comprising Rosneft, Gazprom Neft and LUKOIL), which is developing the Junin 6 field.
