MINSK, April 19 (Itar-Tass) - President Alexander Lukashenko said Belarus might join the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in the near future.
Addressing the parliament on Friday, Lukashenko said, “We moved up along. We’ll be able to join the WTO in the near future.”
He said, “Recently the U.S. has warned us that they won’t politicise Belarus’ accession to the WTO, prevent and oppose this process. The same is the EU does.”
Belarus “has practically one foot there”, the president said.
At the same time, he noted, “The absence of legal arrangements is rather useful for Belarus.”
