Thirty-six deputies from the five other parties said ‘no’ to the coercive attraction of Cyprus bank depositors

NICOSIA, March 19 (Itar-Tass) - The Cyprus parliament on Tuesday voted against the imposition of tax on bank deposits, which the Euro Group demanded to be precondition for the provision of an anti-crisis aid package to Cyprus. Nineteen deputies of the ruling Cyprus Democratic Rally party abstained from voting. Thirty-six deputies from the five other parties said ‘no’ to the coercive attraction of Cyprus bank depositors to finance a 10-billion-euro financial assistance program.
