Criminal case opened against director of defence enterprise at Plesetsk spaceport for embezzlement

ARKHANGELSK, February 28 (Itar-Tass) – The criminal case was opened over the embezzlement of over six million roubles, which were allocated to fulfil the state defence order, in the city Mirny, the Arkhangelsk Region, that is an administrative centre of the spaceport Plesetsk, the press service of the Arkhangelsk regional prosecutor’s office told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

“The criminal case was opened over the materials, which were gathered in an inquiry of the research-and-production company Novator that the prosecutor’s office of the restricted access administrative entity Mirny jointly with the Federal Security Service department at the spaceport Plesetsk and the tax inspection have carried out,” the press service reported.

The inquiry found that the general director of the research-and-production amalgamation Novator has drafted and signed the contracts for the creation of scientific-technical products with the fly-by-night companies within the fulfilment of the state contracts in the works for the service maintenance and operation of the orbital groupings for the needs of the Russian Defence Ministry. “After the acts over the fulfilment of the works were signed, he transferred over six million roubles to their accounts, thus massively embezzling the state property he was responsible for,” the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office noted.

The investigation in the embezzlement criminal case continues.
