NOVO OGARYOVO, February 18 (Itar-Tass) – President Vladimir Putin said it is expedient to extend the term of free privatisation to two years for all citizens.
Meeting Khabarovsk Territory Governor Vyacheslav Shport on Monday, Putin said, “It will be expedient and fair to set the same term for everyone.”
Shport told Putin: “Housing privatisation is ending in Khabarovsk Territory. Today citizens have asked the authorities to extend the term.”
“We’ve extended it. But I want to ask you to extend it. Maybe, to two years,” the Khabarovsk Territory governor said.
Putin said, “Everyone should be disciple. Totally it is well-known that free privatisation is ending. However, maybe, some people had no time for objective reasons.”
“The key task is that privatisation is extended for servicemen. Just to two years. Everyone should have equal conditions. We’ll never cancel for servicemen and we’ll aggravate their situation under no circumstances. The term will be the same for everyone,” the president said.
Earlier, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin had proposed to extend free public housing privatization for two more years.
“The president believes that taking into consideration social significance of this problem it is necessary to raise the issue of prolonging public housing privatization for all categories of citizens for two more years,” he said.
“Therefore we proceed from the assumption that this issue will be studied in this manner, which will allow those categories of citizens, who failed to do this in time, to privatize their flats free of charge, although to be fair it’s worth noting that there was enough time to complete all privatization procedures,” Peskov said.
He noted that the issue of free public housing privatization “is very sensitive and concerns a great number of citizens.” The expiry date of free privatization is March 1.
This issue had been repeatedly discussed at meetings with the president, Peskov said.
