DUSHANBE, January 9 (Itar-Tass) — The lower house of the Tajikistani parliament on Wednesday ratified the agreement on the country's accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Tajikistan was admitted to the WTO on December 10 last year, 12 years since the beginning of the negotiating process.
Speaking at a ceremony in Geneva, President Emomali Rakhmon, who spearheaded the negotiations on the country’s accession to the WTO, said that “Tajikistan fruitfully uses membership in this esteemed organisation for ensuring the further economic development and raising the well-being of the country’s population.”
At the same time Dushanbe is still negotiating on the accession to the Customs Union.
