Ukraine transfers money for Russian gas imported in December

Naftogaz Ukrainy has transferred to Russia’s Gazprom gas giant about 618 million dollars

KIEV, January 8 (Itar-Tass) — Ukraine’s National JSC Naftogaz Ukrainy has transferred to Russia’s Gazprom gas giant about 618 million dollars for gas imported in December 2012, the company press service reported on Tuesday.

It said the money was transferred on January 4. “National JSC Naftogaz Ukrainy monthly fulfils its gas payment commitments to Gazprom timely and in full,” company sources said. The price of gas for Ukraine in October-December of 2012 was about 430 dollars.

“In accordance with terms of an additional agreement to the basic contract, signed between Naftogaz Ukrainy and Gazprom on April 21, 2010, the gas price is determined with taking into consideration the discount of 100 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters,” the sources said.

For more than two years Ukraine has been seeking in vain that Russia bring down its gas price for the country.
