Official unemployment in Russia goes up by over 1% in November

The number of the unemployed registered with employment services went up by 1.56 percent

MOSCOW, December 9 (Itar-Tass) —— Official unemployment in Russia went up by 1.56 percent in November to exceed one million people, the press service of the Russian ministry of labor and social policy reported.

"In the period from October 25 to November 28, 2012, the number of the unemployed registered with employment services went up by 1.56 percent, or by 15,489 people due to the seasonal factor. So, as of November 28, 2012, the number of the jobless was one million and 7,809 people," the ministry said.

Nonetheless, the number of the unemployed went down in 30 Russian regions in this period. Among this regions are the republics of Kabardino-Balkaria and Kalmykia, the Ulyanovsk, Ivanovo, and Saratov regions. The number of the officially registered unemployed increased in 53 regions. Maximal growth was registered in the Omsk, Amur, Sakhalin, Astrakhan and Magadan regions, in the Kamchatka and Altai Territories.

As many as 141,402 people were idling though the fault of their managers, who worked part-time or were on leave upon agreement with the administration. "The number of those idling through the fault of the administration was 25,330. The number of those working part-time stood at 111,390. As many as 4,682 people were forced to take a leave," the ministry said.
