Russia ranks sixth in the world for Internet accessibility — deputy PM

Dmitry Chernyshenko added that the Russian IT market has grown more than twice as fast as the global market

MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. Russia ranks sixth in the world in terms of Internet accessibility and over the past four years, the Russian information technology market has grown on average more than twice as fast as the world market, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said on Friday.

"We rank sixth in the world for Internet accessibility," Chernyshenko said, adding that Russia is also one of the few countries with its own generative artificial intelligence technologies and large language models - GigaChat, Kandinsky, YandexGPT, Shedevroom, and others - and over the last four years, the Russian IT market has grown more than twice as fast as the global market.

Chernyshenko recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin identified digital transformation as a national development goal until 2030. "Today Russia faces large-scale technological challenges and tasks, their successful implementation is impossible without active digitalization of various areas," he said.
