Russia to build up oil refining to meet domestic market demand — deputy prime minister

Alexander Novak said that Russia has the potential to increase oil refining volumes due to free capacity at oil refineries

MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. Russia plans to build up oil refining to supply enough oil products to the domestic market, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters.

"Oil refining will be increased, and companies will be tasked with ensuring larger volumes of gasoline and diesel fuel production to eliminate possible risks associated with the market," Novak said.

Russia has the potential to increase oil refining volumes due to free capacity at oil refineries, the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

"We have enough capacity at oil refineries to meet demand in full: both gasoline and diesel fuel, and even export. We continue to export diesel. We have reduced exports for gasoline, leaving them only for the EAEU countries. To meet spring demand, production capacities have been loaded," Novak said, adding that the problem with the export of marketable products from the refinery has been resolved, which makes it possible to load and ensure the production of petroleum products.

In late March, Novak said that Russian oil companies were able to increase gasoline production after a series of emergencies at Russian oil refineries; this was achieved thanks to an increase in fuel production at other refineries.
