CIS Secretary General calls CIS, SCO, BRICS ideal platform to strengthen economic ties

Sergey Lebedev noted that at present special attention should be paid to the targeted development of the markets of the CIS and SCO countries

MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. The CIS, SCO and BRICS countries make an ideal platform for the development of economic cooperation, in particular for the creation of new industries and the integration of transport and logistics chains, Secretary General of the CIS Sergey Lebedev said.

"The Commonwealth of Independent States, the SCO and BRICS countries are, in my opinion, an ideal place for creating new industries, combining transport and logistics chains, and strengthening economic ties," he said at a plenary meeting of the International Economic Forum of the CIS member states.

He noted that at present special attention should be paid to the targeted development of the markets of the CIS and SCO countries. That is why, the forum program included issues of developing the fuel and energy complex and industrial cooperation, increasing the capabilities of national transport systems and trans-Eurasian transport corridors, developing construction and electronic marketplaces, the problem of removing trade barriers and developing human capital, he said.

"All these issues can be solved when there is a desire, there is mutual respect. And I think that we were guided by these very principles, so we will always find a solution to the most difficult problems," the CIS Secretary General concluded.
