US and Europe account for third of Nornickel sales, despite 'voluntary sanctions'

Some products are sold at a discount, "but not always," Vice President and Head of Sales and Commerce Unit Anton Berlin noted

MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. Around a third of Nornickel sales still come from America and Europe, the company’s Vice President for Investor Relations and Sustainability Vladimir Zhukov said on Friday.

"Buyers from the US and Europe, where the strictest requirements for our sustainable development are taken, still account for around a third of our sales. At the same time, China is the largest market, accounting for over half of our sales," he said.

Some products are sold at a discount, "but not always," Vice President and Head of Sales and Commerce Unit Anton Berlin noted. He added that the company faces a lot of external constraints. Some buyers voluntarily refuse to use Russian metals and even products from Russian raw materials, for example, at the Finnish Norilsk Nickel plant - Nornickel Harjavalta.

Nornickel is a diversified mining and metallurgical company, the world's largest producer of palladium and high-grade nickel. Production units of Nornickel group of companies are located in Russia in the Norilsk industrial region, on the Kola Peninsula, and in the Trans-Baikal Territory, as well as in Finland.
