Dutch agricultural exports to Russia increase since start of conflict in Ukraine — portal

According to the report, Dutch companies are helping Russia build a self-sufficient and prosperous agricultural sector

THE HAGUE, March 21. /TASS/. The Netherlands now exports more agricultural products to Russia than before the conflict in Ukraine, the NL Times information portal reported with reference to the Follow the Money platform.

According to the online publication, modern agricultural machines and vaccines from the Netherlands are especially in demand in Russia. Their exports to Russia increased from 184 million euros in 2021 to 239 million euros in 2022. Positive trends were also observed in 2023, when exports amounted to 172 million euros in the first nine months. Other products are also in demand on the Russian market, for example, for optimizing agriculture. As the portal concluded, Dutch companies are helping Russia build a self-sufficient and prosperous agricultural sector.

"When it comes to the growth of greenhouse horticulture in Russia, the Dutch business community plays a prominent role," Meeuwes Brouwer, the Dutch agricultural council in Moscow from 2016 to 2020, told FTM. "The sanctions on both sides have produced losers, but also winners. The greenhouse builders and seed companies belong to the second group."

According to the data obtained by NL Times, to date Russia exported more wheat and flour than ever in 2022 and 2023. In 2019, the Russians exported 23.5 billion euros worth of agricultural products. This year, that is expected to amount to more than 40 billion euros.
