Cuba discussing options to expand air service with Russia — minister

Juan Carlos Garcia Granda said earlier that jets flying to the island from Russia are 94% full now, with three main directions existing, including Varadero, Cayo Coco and Havana

MOSCOW, March 19. /TASS/. Cuba’s national air carrier is developing various options of expanding air service with Aeroflot and other airlines, including code sharing and aircraft lease, Cuban Tourism Minister Juan Carlos Garcia Granda said in an interview with TASS.

"Cuba’s air carrier Cubana de Aviacion is currently developing with Aeroflot and other airlines various decisions, including code sharing, including aircraft lease, for ensuring convenient air service between Russia and Cuba in the future," he said, adding that the situation "is very difficult and complicated."

The Cuban minister said earlier that jets flying to the island from Russia are 94% full now, with three main directions existing, including Varadero, Cayo Coco and Havana. Flights are performed by Rossiya and Nordwind airlines.
