China to achieve 5% GDP growth in 2024 — expert

China will continue demonstrating higher economic indicators this year, Wang Wen said

SHANGHAI, March 5. /TASS/. China will be able to achieve high economic indicators in 2024, including the GDP growth at the level of 5%, executive dean of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies Wang Wen told TASS, commenting on the socioeconomic tasks set by the national government.

"The target level of 5% is the highest among the largest economies of the globe. It is not easy to achieve it but China will be definitely able in 2024 to dispel the rumors of [plausibility] of ‘the theory of the Chinese top’ put forward by certain Western mass media, analytical centers and politicians," the expert said.

China will continue demonstrating higher economic indicators this year, Wang said. "China still has many instruments for stimulation and recovery of the economy. For example, floating of ultra-long-term special government bonds is among them," he added.

The government of China set the target for the GDP growth in 2024 at the level of 5%.
