Thailand sets sights on attracting more Russian tourists

Russians ranked fifth among all the national groups for tourists visiting Thailand as of the end of 2023

BANGKOK, January 12. /TASS/. Thailand will focus on increasing inbound tourist traffic from Russia, Governor of the Tourist Authority of Thailand Thapanee Kiatphaibool told TASS.

"I would like to thank Russian tourists. As you know, we forecast last year that about a million tourists from Russia would visit Thailand, but we eventually hosted 1.48 mln Russians as of the end of the year. This is a significant figure. In this regard, the government and the Ministry of Tourism and the Tourist Authority of Thailand are prioritizing attracting an even greater number of Russians," she said.

The Authority will continue "closely interacting with all parties and contribute to making the stay of Russian tourists safer," the governor added.
