Russia’s grain exports up 1.5-fold as of December 4 at 62.5 mln tons — ministry

The Agriculture Ministry’s department director added that "last year’s record is 157.7 mln tons, while this year more than 140 mln tons are expected"

MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. Russia’s grain exports amounted to 62.5 mln tons as of December 4, 2023, which is 1.5 times higher than in the previous year, the Agriculture Ministry’s department director Olga Polozyukova said.

"The Agriculture Ministry’s policy and state support measures allowed reaching high yield results for the second consecutive year. Last year’s record is 157.7 mln tons, while this year more than 140 mln tons are expected. Consequently, export results are also reaching record highs as [grain exports from Russia - TASS] totaled 62.5 mln tons as of December 4 for the calendar year, which is 1.5 times higher than in the previous year," she told a roundtable.

The system of setting quotas has been operating for three years, the official added. Consequently, the quota on export of Russian grain will total 24 mln tons from February 15 to June 30, 2024.
