Construction of Mongolian part of Power of Siberia 2 to start in Q1 2024

Pre-feasibility report has been completed, designing is to be completed by the end of this year, Russian Deputy Prime Minister ViKtoria Abramchenko said

ULAANBAATAR, October 24. /TASS/. The approval of project design documentation on the Soyuz Vostok gas pipeline via Mongolia to China is expected in the first quarter of 2024, whereas the construction of the pipeline may start right after that, in the first quarter of next year as well, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktoria Arbamchenko said.

"We follow the schedule without delays. Pre-feasibility report has been completed, designing is to be completed by the end of this year. Approval of design documentation with all findings [is expected] in the first quarter of next year, after which construction may start," she told reporters following a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation.

The construction may start in the first quarter or the first half of 2024, Deputy PM noted.

The Soyuz Vostok pipeline is an extension of the Russian gas pipeline Power of Siberia 2 for supplies of up to 50 bln cubic meters of gas to China through Mongolia annually. The total length of the gas pipeline through the territory of Mongolia will be around 960 km.
