Africa purchases arms from Russia unafraid of external pressure – Putin

The head of state noted that African countries "sincerely want to continue" working with Russia

ST. PETERSBURG, July 30. /TASS/. African countries are working with Russia in the realm of military and technical cooperation, including buying weapons without fearing any external pressure, Russian President Vladimir Putin said following the Russia-Africa Summit.

The president noted that African countries "sincerely want to continue" working with Russia "including in the sphere of military and technical cooperation. They are not afraid of some kind of outside pressure, they are working and buying arms," he said, reiterating that the Russian Defense Ministry provides training for dozens and hundreds of servicemen from African countries.

The second Russia-Africa Summit and Economic and Humanitarian Forum was held on July 27-28 at the Expoforum venue in St. Petersburg under its traditional rubric: “For peace, security and development.” The event was organized by the Roscongress Foundation. TASS was the official photo-hosting agency and information partner for the summit and forum, as well as the host of the Second Russia-Africa Media Forum.
