Hainan's Sanya opens director route to Indonesia's capital

Flights will be operated in both directions twice a week

HAIKOU /China/, July 25. /TASS/. The resort city of Sanya on the Chinese island of Hainan has launched direct passenger flights to Indonesia's capital Jakarta. This was reported by the Sanya Daily newspaper.

According to the newspaper, flights twice a week in both directions are carried out by the Indonesian airline Lion Air. Boeing 737-900 airplanes are used for passenger transportation. The flight time is 4 hours and 15 minutes.

It is noted that these will be the first passenger flights from Hainan to Indonesia in 2023. The new route is expected to boost international business contacts and cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

Phoenix Airport in Sanya received more than 46,000 Indonesian tourists in 2019 before the pandemic hit. According to official statistics, Indonesia ranked fifth among all other countries in terms of the number of citizens who visited this resort city for vacation purposes.
