BEIJING, April 19. /TASS/. The future cooperation between Moscow and Beijing on joint exploration of the Northern Sea Route is challenging, but realistic, Russia’s Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov told a press conference on Friday.

"The prospects of the Northern Sea Route exploration is challenging, but realistic, and it is no coincidence that our Chinese partners are so much interested in that. Without prospects, there would be no interest. It is hardly possible to send anyone there, to the north, for no special reason, only a serious economic interest and commercial considerations can encourage that," he explained.

The diplomat added that "huge investments are required for the development of major sea links" and a full-fledged exploration of the Northern route.
