Cooperation with Crimea will help Syria break Western economic blockade, says minister

Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Samer al-Khalil noted that Syria will keep in mind Crimea’s experience of conducting foreign economic policy under a sanctions regime

YALTA, April 18. /TASS/. The establishment of the Crimean-Syrian trade house will help Damascus to break the economic blockade of Western countries, Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Samer al-Khalil said on Thursday.

"We have to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in order to overcome the economic blockade," he stressed.

The minister noted that the Crimean-Syrian trade house would help Syria achieve this goal. "We are confident that this trade house will deepen and expand the economic and trade relations, raising their level and in this way, raising the level of political relations between the two countries," he added.

Al-Khalil pointed out that Syria will keep in mind Crimea’s experience of conducting foreign economic policy under a sanctions regime.

The fifth Yalta International Economic Forum, dubbed "World. Russia. Crimea. New World Reality," is taking place in the Crimean city of Yalta on April 17-20. TASS is the forum’s general information partner and official photohost agency.
