MOSCOW, April 18. /TASS/. The Russian Government published the list of goods banned for import from Ukraine. It comprises clothing, footwear, paper, tubulars and other products, according to the decree.
The ban in introduced for importing paper, multilayer carton, certain kinds of tubulars and clothing (suits, jackets, sets, blazers, dresses, skirts, pants, overalls, bridges and shorts (except for swimming) for females and girls, etc.), from Ukraine.
Furthermore, imports of footwear, footwear elements, ropes, wire, fastening parts and steel enamel cookware are banned as well.
The import prohibition also covers imports of pipelayers with lifting capacity below 90 tonnes, tracked bulldozers (with power up to 250 HP and above but less than 400 HP) and single-bucket front side wheeled loaders.
"Imports of ready-made clothing and footwear from Ukraine is banned with regard to the light industry. We note that these goods are imported into Russia from the whole range of countries, and we therefore do not expect any shortage," the Russian Ministry of Industry told TASS in a comment. The new ban will create extra opportunities for domestic companies producing such goods.
Moscow has taken countermeasures in response to restrictions imposed by Ukraine, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at a government meeting earlier on Thursday, adding that he had signed a respective decree.
The ban will apply to Ukrainian engineering products, consumer goods, metal products, the cost of which totaled almost $250 mln last year, the Prime Minister said.
