Nord Stream 2 operator files third application for gas pipeline route in Danish waters

The third application covers a route in the Danish exclusive economic zone in the waters south of Bornholm

MOSCOW, April 15. /TASS/. Nord Stream 2 AG, the operator of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project, has filed a third application to Denmark regarding the route of the gas pipeline in the waters south of Bornholm, the company said in a statement.

"Today, more than two years after submitting its first application for a route through Danish waters, Nord Stream 2 AG has submitted a third application. The third application, together with the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), covers a route in the Danish exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the waters south of Bornholm," the company said.

According to the statement, the application and the EIA have been submitted in accordance with the decision made by the Danish Energy Agency (DEA) on March 26, 2019.

"The EEZ border between Poland and Denmark was previously disputed and therefore the area was not available for any project developer. An agreement has been reached between the two countries, which, however, has not yet been ratified by Poland," the operator said.
