Putin to take part in EAEU summit in Nur-Sultan

The summit will take place on May 29

MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part in Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) summit in Kazakhstan’s capital dedicated to the fifth anniversary of that association on May 29.

"President Tokayev and I will meet again very soon. A meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council timed to the fifth anniversary of the Eurasian Economic Union is scheduled to be held in Nur-Sultan on May 29," he told reporters on Wednesday following talks with Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. "Holding this jubilee event in Kazakhstan’s capital is quite symbolic, since the agreement on establishing the EAEU was signed there."

Putin also invited Tokayev to take part in the next interregional cooperation forum of the two countries, which will be held in the Siberian city of Omsk in November.

The issue of humanitarian ties was raised at the meeting in the Kremlin as well, the Russian leader went on to say. "We are determined to promote the development of bilateral scientific and cultural exchanges in every possible way. Plans are in store to open a new Russian school and university in Kazakhstan. The establishment of a branch of the Russian Science and Culture Center in Almaty is under consideration. Large-scale reconstruction of the historical pavilion Kazakhstan in Moscow’s Exhibition of Economic Achievements where Kazakhstan’s cultural and business center will open soon is underway," Putin said.

The Russian president added that Moscow provided assistance to Kazakhstan in training highly qualified personnel.
