Aeroflot postpones five flights due to Pakistan closing its airspace

Pakistan has closed its air space due to the tense relations with India, following the February 14 dealy attack on an Indian military convoy in the state of Jammu and Kashmir

MOSCOW, February. /TASS/. The Aeroflot company has postponed five flights due to the closing of Pakistan’s air space, the company’s website informs. This concerns flights from Moscow to Shanghai, Beijing and Bangkok, as well as flights to Moscow from Deli and Phuket.

"Attention to passengers travelling to or from [Moscow] Sheremetyevo Airport on February 27 and 28, 2019. Due to the closing of the airspace over Pakistan, Aeroflot is forced to make changes to its schedule for February 27 and 28," the message informs.

Earlier on Wednesday, Pakistan closed its air space due to the country’s tense relations with India. Following the February 14 attack on an Indian military convoy in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 45 people, India conducted an airstrike on Tuesday on the positions of the Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist group in the Pakistani-administered part of Kashmir.

On Wednesday, Pakistan informed that it had attacked military facilities in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan’s air space has been closed as a security measure following the air strikes. According to the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) system, the restrictions will be in place until 02:59 Moscow time on February 28.
