Russia’s First Deputy PM commented on detention of Baring Vostok founder

Anton Siluanov recalled that the "laws should not be violated"

SOCHI, February 15. /TASS/. First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Russia Anton Siluanov made a comment on detention of Michael Calvey, the founder and the managing partner of Baring Vostok private equity firm, earlier today.

"If this is fraud, then what can be said about it. Laws should not be violated. This should be merely sorted out. Nobody should breach the law, be it a foreigner or a Russian national. There is no difference," Siluanov told reporters.

Earlier on Friday, the company reported that four employees of Baring Vostok, including Calvey, were detained as part of a dispute over Vostochny Express Bank.

Baring Vostok is one of the largest private equity firms focusing on Russia and the CIS with a capital of $3.7 bln.
