Gold deposit opens in Arkhangelsk Region

Recoverable resources of gold are estimated at more than 17 tonnes

ST. PETERSBURG, February 8. /TASS/. Russian geologists made a map of the Shardozerskaya area in the Arkhangelsk Region, where recoverable resources of gold are estimated at more than 17 tonnes, press service of the North-West PGO (a part of Rosgeologiya - the national geology holding) said.

"The area is the Arkhangelsk Region’s Plesetsky District and partly it includes the Kenozero National Park’s territory," the company said. "The area is 7,616.2 sq. km."

According to Rosgeologiya’s Managing Director Oleg Vasin, the gold’s resources are forecasted at 17.8 tonnes.

The exploration period lasted for a few years.
