Indiga port’s project may be presented in spring

According to the Nenets Region’s governor, potential investors are ready to participate in the project

MOSCOW, January 16. /TASS/. A project on development of the Indiga port in the Nenets Region will be presented within two coming months, the region’s Governor Alexander Tsybulsky told TASS on Wednesday.

"I hope, it will happen within two months; currently, specialists eye tariffs for cargo deliveries to the Indiga port," he said on sidelines of the Gaidar Forum

According to the governor, potential investors are ready to participate in the project.

"The Indiga project’s advantage is that we have investors, who are prepared to invest up to 100 billion rubles ($1.5 billion)…," he said. "Those are up to five our biggest businesses, working in port logistics and in mining."

Coal is one of the cargoes to be transshipped in Indiga.

"In this long-term planning, it is not clear for me as an economist, what demand for coal would be by then, but my colleagues, who support this project, hope to earn the initial margin on coal, and later on to restructure the port and to have there, say, [natural] gas liquefying facilities," he told TASS.

The forming Nenets backbone zone may include a project on construction of the Indiga deep water unfreezing port near the settlement, which has the same name. The future port’s capacity may be up to 30 million tonnes. The port, which will be made on the public-private partnership basis, will have among others oil and coal terminals.

The Gaidar Forum is an annual international scientific economy-related conference. The forum, which was held for the first time in 2010, is organized by the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy and the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR). Russia’s TASS news agency is the event’s general information partner.
