KIEV, January 5. /TASS/. The volume of Russian gas transported to EU countries and Moldova through the Ukrainian territory decreased by 6.7 bln cubic meters, or 7.2%, to 86.8 bln cubic meters in 2018 compared with 2017, press service of the country’s gas transport system operator Ukrtransgaz said in a statement on Friday.
"Ukrtransgaz reduced the volume of gas transported from the Russian Federation to European countries and Moldova by 6.7 bln cubic meters in 2018 to 86.8 bln cubic meters," the statement said.
In 2018, the volume of natural gas injected in underground gas storage facilities amounted to 9.8 bln cubic meters, a 6.5% increase compared with the previous year, the company said. A total of 10.6 bln cubic meters of gas was piped out from underground storages in the reporting period, an increase of 4.2 bln cubic meters, or 65.6%, compared with 2017. As of January 1, 2019, Ukraine had 13.8 bln cubic meters of gas stored in underground storage facilities, a 6.1% drop compared with the previous year.
