G20 final communique rather broad but still positive result — Putin

The Russian president said disagreements always arise at international platforms in the process of preparing communiques

BUENOS AIRES, December 1. /TASS/. The final communique adopted at the G20 summit is rather general but still represents a positive result, Russian President Vladimir Putin told journalists after the summit.

"Yes, we can say that the document is general, broad. This may be the case but I still think that it is useful. I think that Argentina did everything as a chair for this document to be signed and coordinated by all countries. It is important because it shows the most pressing problems that G20 faces, and shows the direction in which we should move to resolve the issues we are facing," Putin said. "I think this is a positive result nevertheless," he added.

Putin stressed that disagreements always arise at international platforms in the process of preparing communiques. He reminded that the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) summit "did not produce a final document at all." He said that the G20 summit in Argentina "did not end up like this, and a final document was after all adopted."

"There really were questions about some points, including the migrant crisis, trade issues, and others. But in the end, our colleagues made an effort, and the document was adopted," he added.
