Putin to suggest measures strengthening WTO role at G20 summit

According to the presidential aide, the leader is expected to present a full-fledged report, rather than remarks and comments

MOSCOW, November 28. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will be one of main presenters at the second working meeting of the G20 summit on November 30 and will propose a range of measures strengthening the role of WTO as a universal platform for settlement of trade disputes, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters on Wednesday.

"The first part of the meeting will be dedicated to current matters of international trade, financial and tax system; we registered our President as one of main presenters," Ushakov said. Putin will present a full-fledged report, rather than remarks and comments, the official added.

"He will express the opinion regarding existing imbalances in global trade, problems related to escalation of trade conflicts, and our viewpoint regarding cases of application of unilateral discriminating restrictions. Furthermore, the President will offer a range of measures aimed at strengthening WTO role as a universal forum for settlement of disputes and the dialog on global trade and economic issues," Ushakov said.

Putin will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron in Buenos Aires on November 30, Ushakov said. the Russian President will also meet with the leaders of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) countries and hold talks in the RIC format (Russia, India, and China).
