Russian defense official notes prospects for cooperation with Uruguay

Uruguay’s deputy foreign minister pointed to the dynamically developing bilateral cooperation between the two states

MONTEVIDEO /Uruguay/, November 23. /TASS/. Russia sees good prospects for developing military-technical cooperation with Uruguay, Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin has said at a meeting with Uruguayan Deputy Foreign Minister Ariel Bergamino.

"We believe that our countries have fairly stable permanent contacts at all levels - between the Foreign Ministries, parliaments and in the military-technical cooperation. <…> We see good prospects for further development of bilateral military-technical cooperation," he said.

Fomin stressed that Russia was grateful to Uruguay for its stable and balanced stance on major international issues, which is not easy amidst political, economic and psychological pressure.

"We always see eye to eye or have similar stances on international politics issues," he added.

For his part, Uruguay’s deputy foreign minister pointed to the dynamically developing bilateral cooperation and assured that his country was prepared to expand cooperation with Russia in many areas.

Fomin also visited Uruguay’s Air Force operation center, chief command of the Uruguayan Air Force and the National Peace Operations Training Institute.
