Unemployment benefits to almost double in Russia in 2019

The maximum amount of unemployment benefits will amount to 8 000 rubles ($121.3)

MOSCOW, November 19. /TASS/. The Russian government approved the minimum and maximum unemployment benefits for 2019, the resolution has been signed on November 15, 2018 and was published on the official government web site on Monday.

" For 2019, to establish the minimum amount of unemployment benefits in the amount of 1500 rubles ($22.75) and the maximum amount of unemployment benefits in the amount of 8 000 rubles ($121.3)," the document says. The same document states that the unemployment pay-out for someone who is pre-retirement is set at between 1500 ($22.75) to 11 280 rubles ($171). The Cabinet has nearly doubled the unemployment benefits. In November 2017, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree according to which the minimum amount of unemployment benefits in 2017 was set at 850 rubles, and the maximum at 4900 rubles.

As of September 1, 2018, the average unemployment rate in Russia was 0.9% of the economically active population, while on September 1, 2017 it was 1%. The number of vacancies declared by employers at the employment service amounts to 1.7 million proposals, Russian Federal Labor and Employment Service reports.
