Russian president, Thai PM note growth of tourism from Russia to Thailand

The Thai prime minister said, for his part, that the trade turnover between the two countries increased by around 50% last year

SINGAPORE, November 14. /TASS/. Russian tourists have supported Thailand’s economy for a sum of more than $2 billion last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin reported at a meeting with Prime Minister of Thailand Prayut Chan-o-cha.

"According to our information - my colleagues just gave me a clue - our tourists left more than $2 billion in Thailand last year," Putin said. He highlighted that relations between Russia and Thailand are developing rather positively, as can be seen from the flow of tourists from Russia to the kingdom.

The Thai prime minister said, for his part, that the trade turnover between the two countries increased by around 50% last year. "The number of Russian tourists who visited Thailand was up 26%," Prayut Chan-o-cha specified.

He also marked relations between Thailand and Russia in the sphere of security.
